The Special Education District of McHenry County (SEDOM) is composed of eighteen member school districts. One of the purposes of the cooperative is to provide educational programming and services for member district students whose educational needs cannot be served within their local districts. Member districts annually complete a comprehensive needs assessment process identifying areas of programming need for the upcoming school year.

Programming includes instructional classrooms in a general education or separate school environment as well as itinerant services for inclusion support, hearing and vision needs, adapted physical education, autism and or orientation and mobility training. Related support services and diagnostic and consultation services are also available to support students in their educational environment.
